Unlike some other chatbot models, Grok is also text-only; it can’t understand the content of images, audio or videos, for example. But xAI has previously said that its intention is to enhance the underlying model to these modalities, and Musk has pledged to add art-generation capabilities to Grok along the lines of those currently offered by ChatGPT. RLHF is quite good at “teaching” models to follow instructions — but not perfect. Like other models, Grok is prone to hallucinating, sometimes offering misinformation and false timelines when asked about news. Grok vs. ChatGPT: How Are They Different?
Grok is powered by a large language model (LLM) called Grok-1, in the same way that ChatGPT is powered by GPT-4. An immediate competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, as well as Copilot (formerly Bing Chat), Google Bard, and Anthropic Claude-2, Grok promises to address “spicy” topics such as political views with more humor than its artificially intelligent peers. “Fun” mode and “regular” mode
Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini are currently in beta on 𝕏, and we are also making both models available through our enterprise API later this month. On November 4th, the AI research and development firm gave us a top-level statement regarding the vision for the new AI chatbot, what it will do, and how it will do it. With access now available to the public, but limited to paying X users, you’ll see the following screen during your sign-up process. There is no free version of Grok at this time; it is only available to people who pay $16 a month for a premium subscription to X. From a user interface standpoint, Grok can also handle multiple queries simultaneously and users can toggle between those answers, as shown in a video demonstration by xAI co-founder Toby Pohlen.

For instance, I asked Grok “What are your AI predictions for 2024?” Both versions spit out similar answers like AI-driven healthcare and automating business operations. Depending on what you ask, different versions of Grok can generate their own unique responses.
